Natural Remedy for Eczema

When Baby Boy was just an infant he had some eczema patches on his face, they itched him terribly and he would scratch his face to the point of making it bleed. Sad smile
Since, he was so tiny I was hesitant to use anything on his sensitive face, I just tried to keep it washed and clean with a warm wet wash cloth, at that age all I used to bath him with was water. Here is a photo of him that shows the irritated skin on his face. He was just 3 weeks old in this photo:

Natural Remedies for an Eye Infection

Most of you know I’m big on natural remedies and herbal therapies. With so many adverse effects of medications, which contain chemicals that can alter brain chemistry and/or hormones, they usually cause more harm than good. If possible, I try to treat my children’s ailments naturally.

Sweet-Aromas Aromatherapy: Guest Post

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is when natural oils are extracted from flowers, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance and assist with psychological and physical well-being. The inhaled aroma from these "essential" oils is believed to stimulate brain function. Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing. Aromatherapy is used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement, relaxation, romance enhancement, sinuses, healthy hair growth and more!

Going "No-'Poo": Guest Post

This guest post is coming to you via Brittany of The Pistachio Project
Ready for an extremely crunchy topic? No 'poo! No, I am not talking about not going to the bathroom, I am referring to the method of not shamPOOing your hair.
Before you start thinking, EWW, gross! Let me explain. No 'pooing does not mean that you are not washing your hair. Although some die hard crunchies will go that far and only wash with water. It does not begin that way and it does not have to end that way.

Make Your Own Baby Food

When it was time for Baby Boy to start eating food, I knew I wanted to make it myself rather than buy from the store. Carrots seemed to be the most recommended first food, so I took some baby carrots, washed them and cut them up.

SDC15956

I steamed them until they were soft and put them in our Ninja. See the jar of coconut oil in the background? I add about 1/4 teaspoon to each batch of food I make, it is very healthy and beneficial to the body in many ways, but that is another post in itself!

SDC15960

I store the baby food in the freezer in ice trays (fellow mom blogger Shay gave me that idea, thanks Shay)!

SDC15963

And here is Baby Boy trying his carrots for the first time:

SDC15729

I have since made apples, bananas, green beans, sweet potatoes, squash and pears for Baby Boy. Chopping them up and steaming or boiling each one until they are soft.

SDC16221

For the sweet potato, I poke whole in them with a fork and run them under warm water, I them wrap them in foil and bake at 410 for 45 minutes.

SDC16226

And we have organic, homemade baby food with no preservatives or additives.

Do you (or do you plan to) make your own baby food at home?

If you enjoyed this post, please “like” it!
