#BlueBloggers Raising the Stakes for #SuicidePrevention

Last week during National Suicide Prevention Week, a fellow blogger Cristi of Motherhood Unadorned dyed her hair blue after raising over $1,600 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She's a survivor of suicide and is very passionate about the cause, so much so she inspired others to join her effort and get blue streaks when she reached her goal. UndaGod Apparel

Back in April, my hometown was hit by a tornado; devastating much of the small community. The school and 149 homes were destroyed.





D was spending the night there that night and by the grace of God, she and the family were ok and the house sustained minimal damage. A local apparel shop, called UndaGod: Apparel With a Purpose, designed some T-shirts and pledged to donate 40% of each sale to the relief fund. This is the design:

African Princesses Update

Remember my post for Elisa who was traveling to Uganda and Ethiopia and ws asking for donations of hair accessories for the precious little girls of Africa? Well, I wanted to share some photo’s from her blog of some of the children with their hair goodies!

Hair Time Art

I wanted to share this with all of my readers...one of my followers, and her husband are currently in the process of adopting a little girl from Ethiopia.  Katie is committed to learning how to style and care for African hair and teaching her daughter to love her natural hair. She is a children's illustrator and has created these adorable pictures:

Help Them Feel Like Princesses

I wanted to post this for Elisa at Joy, Hope and Everything in Between. She is collecting hair accessories for African orphans, her goal is to "crown 4000 princesses" and make them feel beautiful. If everyone pitched in I know we could help her reach her goal! Here is her story:

Do you want to be part of something big?  Do you want to help a little girl feel beautiful?  I am traveling to Uganda and Ethiopia with a team of 30 missionaries on May 31.  We are going through an organization called Visiting Orphans.  We will be working with several ministries and hundred of girls.

I am collecting all kinds of hair goodies for these precious girls in Africa.  All the girls I will be loving on are orphans. Some have hair and some don't.  My dream is to shower these girls with hair accessories to make them feel beautiful!  Please help me by sending new or gently used hair accessories.  I will be collecting them until May 27.

Some things that would be appreciated are:

Barrettes

Knockers

Rubberbands

Rat Tail combs

Sectioning Clips

Beads

Lots of Headbands (as many girls do not have any hair)
