We dressed up and went Trick or Treating on the the town Saturday evening. We all got in the spirit this year...although I did not have a costume until the last minute, lol. I recycled a couple items from past Halloween Costumes and went as a witch. Dad was Darth Vader and the baby was Yoda. D wore her pink leopard kitty costume.

Ebeanstalk.com Review

ebeanstlklogo

My son will be turning one in less than 3 weeks, eeek (that is an “excited, sad, proud all rolled into one" eeek)! For his birthday, I have been searching online for age appropriate and developmental toys for a 1 year old. I came across Ebeanstalk.com and was really impressed with their site and the variety of appropriate, educational toys for children of all ages. The website itself is easy to navigate and allows you to shop by category, age, gender, and brands. For each toy on their site they feature a description, skills that the toy helps develop and product safety information, which I find very useful.

The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes (Children's Book): Trick or Treat Spotlight

Photobucket

The inspirational and funny picture book, The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes by Mark Pett and Gary Rubinstein (Sourcebooks Jabberwocky; October 2011; Ages 4-8), teaches kids that mistakes are just the building blocks to learning and shows that without risking failure, you will never challenge yourself to try new things. The absurdly delightful story of Beatrice Bottomwell sparks laughter, encourages self-empowerment and reassures students that it’s okay to be yourself without having to be perfect.

We received a Juppy Baby Walker for Baby Boy not long ago and after using it for a couple of days he took his first steps, all by himself! I shared this photo on our Facebook page, when he walked from the couch to D and fell into her arms.

Today’s Throwback: Toddler Hairstyle Finger Curled Ponytails

When D was younger, the all over small finger curled ponytails was one of our favorite styles for her, it was easy and it lasted us a few days. Back then we used Just for Me Hair lotion, I’m sure with better products this style could last a little longer, I would have loved to have done this style with Bee Mine Curly Butter! Now, before getting into blogging, I didn’t really take pictures of her hairstyles, but I found some older photos that show this style. To do this, start on wet/damp hair, part a section of hair into a square, use your favorite styling product, put it into a ponytail and wrap it around your finger to curl it.

Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil Review and #Giveaway, ends Nov 1

It is no secret that we love coconut oil in our household. We use it on hair, skin and of course for cooking. Tropical Traditions is a great source for coconut oil, information on coconut oil and many other organic foods and natural products. I got the opportunity to try their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. The process they use to get the coconut oil is very interesting, it is extracted by grating the fresh coconut, extracting the coconut milk, and then letting the coconut milk stand in a covered container for about 24 hours. After about 24 hours, the oil naturally separates from the water producing a crystal clear oil that retains the full scent and taste of coconuts. Watch the video below to learn more about the coconut oil extraction process:

My Job Chart: Free Online Chore Chart

250x300_Dad_Son_talking

D, for the most part, is a great kid, however being that she is just 6 years old, she has a tendency to forget what she is supposed to do sometimes.  She likes to come straight home and start a movie, get out her barbies or play outside rather than get her homework and other tasks done first. We’ve recently made use of a free online chore chart that helps her remember her daily tasks.

Trick-or-Treat Hop

My kids love books, they love to be read to, even the baby...especially the baby...having someone read to him has always been soothing and calming for him. With that, I am pleased to announce another children's book has been added to our prize pack for the upcoming Trick or Treat Halloween Hop. Natural Remedy for Eczema

When Baby Boy was just an infant he had some eczema patches on his face, they itched him terribly and he would scratch his face to the point of making it bleed. Sad smile
Since, he was so tiny I was hesitant to use anything on his sensitive face, I just tried to keep it washed and clean with a warm wet wash cloth, at that age all I used to bath him with was water. Here is a photo of him that shows the irritated skin on his face. He was just 3 weeks old in this photo:

Center Stage: Baby O

100_0731

This is Baby O and she’s 2, on the verge of 3! I wash her hair once a week, unless it’s been a rough day at daycare in the sand box. I also deep condition with things I keep in the kitchen (honey, avocado, coconut milk) and warm oil treatments (jojoba and olive oil) once a month. I usually make my own products, but I do use Kinky Curly Knot Today, for when the fairies have played in her hair and made a lot of tangles, and Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hold and Shine Moisture Mist when I running out the door and need to spray her hair down with something. Her favorite styles are any that have accessories that make noise when she shakes her head. A close second favorite style of hers is her baby ‘fro and a big flower clip!

Colortime Crafts and Fabric Markers Review and #Giveaway

colortime logo

By now you all have come to find out that this blog is about much more than hair, we represent wholesome family fun and feature all types of quality products for families. If I find a product that my family loves, I want to share it with my readers!! This is a great item for the kiddos and it comes from Colortime Crafts. Colortime has a creative and positive wearable art concept. They have ready-to-color T-shirts, pillowcases, totes, backpacks and bandanas all in a variety of designs. D really enjoys coloring and I knew she would love this idea. Colortime sent us 4 Halloween Totes and a set of bold value fabric markers. I was surprised at the large size of the totes, this will surely hold all of her candy when we go Trick or Treating. Usually we have to empty her sack/pumpkin/ whatever it is she is using to collect candy in, several times before the night is over, but I’m confident we wont have to this year!!

Curlformers on Straight Hair: Momma Style

There are plenty of hairstyles for girls on this site, but not too many hairstyles for women, so I wanted to do a style for the mom’s out there. This is a simple style I did using Curlformers. I used the short and wide curlers that came in our styling kit. I washed my hair, applied some Bee Mine Curly Butter (Bee Mine isn’t just for curly hair, it worked great on my straight hair), then I put the Curlformers in and wore them for about 3 hours until my hair had completely dried.
